THIS WEEKS NUTRITION TIPS

Need some motivation? Here are my weekly tips!
  1. Adult Beverage Recommendation: Say YES to Lemon Drop Martini's! When you order it ask to go light on the simple syrup and use cointreau instead of triple sec.
  2. A Quick Dinner: Try a REALLY BIG SALAD. I know it sounds not so technical but dinners can be satisfying as long as they have the complete ratio. Use 4oz of rotisserie chicken or about 4oz of chicken nuggets of choice (I love Just Bare chicken nuggets from costco!). Throw them into a salad mix (my new favorite Pickle Salad mix. Add a little extra feta, half the dressing and you have a time saving healthy balanced dinner.
  3. It's Dessert Time: Need a healthy Dessert for the week? Is the Ice cream truck swinging by your house tonight? Try bringing yourself back in time and get a Good Humor Ice Cream Sandwich. It's low in sodium, calories, fat and provides a little bit of protein. Who would have thought?

Corn

One corn on the cobb is 155 calories and almost 5g of protein! Besides being a low sodium food it's not a terrible carbohydrate choice considering it's 32g (which is 2 out of the 4 choices generally recommended per meal).

Try steaming one in the microwave wrapped in a wet paper towel for 2-3 minutes. If you wanted to cut your calories eat half and cut the rest of the cobb to throw in a salad the next day for texture! If it's good corn, you don't need anything on top!

The weather is looking up here in NY, humidity is somewhat lifting. Mornings feel refreshing. Try getting out for 10 minutes before you start your day and do a guided meditation, power yoga or even a simple mat pilates class. It will make you stronger.
